About

The Wazania Academy is based in Norwich, England. It was established in 2005 after recognising a need for the revival of a traditionally based education for young women living in the Western world. We also collaborate with various charitable groups in the Norfolk area. The Wazania Academy works in collaboration with the Madrassa Sharif al Wazzani based in Morocco to help young women study English alongside achieving their goals and aspirations.

Inspiration

A great many things inspired this project, the first being a visit made many years ago to a school for girls in the city of Bursa, Turkey, whose director’s inspired commitment, kindled my own. Then there was my dear friend from Pakistan, Hajja Suraya Salemm whose school and clinic for girls is such an example of what can be achieved with sincerity and determination. Then last but by no means least, there was my late husband the Imam and scholar, Mawlana Muhammed, who at the time of his death was involved in the teaching of Arabic and religious studies to young men from all around the world.

Curriculum

Our main focus in Norwich is the study of the Arabic language. We also offer Religious Studies, Music, Art and Culture, English Language and Literature.
